What does assurance mean? Assurance is a noun that’s a positive declaration intended to give confidence, it’s a guarantee, pledge, or promise. Over my life God has given me lots of assurance, whether it was in who my spouse was suppose to be, the career I was suppose to have, or the calling for my life, He’s given me assurance. I learned over the years that when God gives a promise or assures you of something it will come to past. In studying Gods word I was able to get some valuable insights that I feel we must have when it comes to understanding Gods assurance in our lives.
- The first insight is knowing that there is always an ”IF” in Gods assurance. All throughout the bible whenever God promises or assures us of something it is always contingent on IF we do something first. IF we receive him we have the right to become His children, IF we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins, IF we commit our works to the Lord he will establish our thoughts. IF, IF, IF, in Gods assurance there’s always an IF.
- The next insight is that we must have patience in Gods assurance. We live in a society today that wants things on our time instead of Gods time. But Gods word says I waited patiently and expectantly for the Lord; and He inclined to me and heard my cry. We must be patient in waiting for whatever God has assured to us.
- And the last insight is that “There is Action in Gods Assurance” after we met the conditions of Gods “IF” and we’ve patiently waited for when He is ready to fulfill His promise, There is action, and in Gods time which is always the right time, God will spring to action and give you whatever He has promised or assured you to have.
So whenever we have something that we know God has promised or assured to us, don’t get mad if it doesn’t come to past when we want it to. Just keep in mind these three insights about God assurance and know that whenever Gods assures us on anything “It’s a Promise That We Can Stand On!”
