One day I was at work and I heard a couple of my co-workers talking about different religions and which way was the right way to get to Heaven. After several exchanges back and forth of opinions, one who declares to be a Christian said "in the end we all are going to end up in the same place because we all serve God, we just have different ways to get there. It was clear to me in that moment that we are living in a time where either people do not know who Jesus is, or they out of fear of offending someone choose the "All Inclusive Deception" and refuse to speak boldly about who Christ is. From this experience I realized that as a Christian I must do my best to answer the question that a lot of people have with the answer that a lot of people refuse to accept.
Q: Who is Jesus? A: The Way,The Truth, and The Life
We have people today like my co-worker who minimize who Jesus Christ is for a multitude of different reasons. For some of us we simply do not believe the teachings of the bible, that Jesus is the Son of God and is the only way to get to Heaven. More shocking and saddening than unbelief is those of us who actually know about Jesus but are so selfish and caught up in attaining earthly pleasures and filling our own interest we just do not care about following the teachings of the bible. We do not care about God, Christ, Morals, Ethics, or whether we go to Hell or not. We are focused on what makes us happy here on Earth. We are not understanding the importance of fearing God and His judgement. Another major way people minimize Jesus and the role He plays in our eternal lives is through the “All Inclusive Deception”. We are so desperate to fit in and not to rock the boat when it comes to religion that we end up throwing Jesus in with all the other kings and prophets. Simply what we are doing is stripping away Jesus’ importance in our lives with statements like there is no right or wrong path to get to heaven, in the end we all believe in the same God, or we all will end up in the same place and the different religions serve as different ways to get there.
However, Jesus says in John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth, and the life. no one can come to the father except through me." If we break this verse down Christ said “I am the way.” a way or path leads to somewhere. in this way He is referring to the path one takes to get to God the Father. Because of our sin we cannot go before God the Father ourselves, but only through the redeeming blood of the sinless can we go to the Father. Jesus provided this way for us when He sacrificed Himself on the cross to cleanse us of our sins. By Jesus being crucified He became the way that we go through to get to the Father. That is why Jesus said “unless one goes through me, no one can go to the Father.” Also Jesus said “I am the truth.” Here He is referring to the truth of salvation that we must know. Now this does not mean know in a sense of specific teachings. Jesus said He is the truth and if we are to know the truth, Christ is saying we are to know Him. We are to have an intimate relationship with Him, not just know about Him. Knowing Christ is knowing the truth. And lastly Christ said “I am the Life.” The life He is talking about is not one of health and vigor for even the healthy will be consumed by death. However, Christ conquered death and wherever Christ is, death has no power. For those who believe in Christ He invites you to a relationship of life with the Father in heaven. Jesus is basically saying to us that it is only through our belief that He is our savior and the Son of God will we be able to spend eternity with God. for those who think that they can get to God by any way other than Jesus, remember His word says “No one can come to the Father except through me.” For those of you who are stuck in a “ALL INCLUSIVE” mindset ask yourself this question. Who is Jesus? and follow it with this answer The way, the truth, and the life.
John is the 21 chapter gospel of belief and evidence. Simply put, it was written to convincing people to believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. John does this by sharing his personal accounts of a few events and conversations from Jesus' life that serves as evidence of Jesus' deity. If you are reading this blog and you are having doubts about who Jesus is and are questioning His existence, I would like to challenging you to a 21 day belief boosting reading plan. I challenge you to read one chapter a day for 21 days from the gospel of John so that John can lay the evidence out before you that Jesus is who he say he is. I believe that if you fully commit to this challenge Jesus will begin to reveal His truths to you and your faith in Christ will begin to grow. Just know that God speaks to us when we speak to Him. We have to do our part in building a relationship with Jesus so that we will be confident in knowing that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.
