Happy New Year!!
As with every New Year, I'm sure most of us are fueled with passion and vision to accomplish our resolutions and goals. However, let's make sure that this year, we are moving with purpose and a clear direction. This clear direction is God’s will. More often than not, our New Year goals are centered on self-improvement - how we can lose a few pounds, how we can gain more things, or how we can hustle harder and become better versions of ourselves. But are we aware that our good-intentioned goals may be bringing us farther from where God may want us to be? Have you examined your goals for selfish ambition? As we move through the year, let's commit to Romans 12:2 by testing what God's will is. I'm not saying that your goals are misdirected but I am suggesting that you examine them. Make sure that all you are doing is done to the honor, praise, and glory of God. This is what our life as believers is to look like.
The bible says in Colossians 3:17 that "whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” This means that as we strive for greatness in 2017, let's remember the Lord. If we don't we will inevitably work in vain. Psalm 127:1, 2 says “Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep.” Ladies and Gentleman, 2017 must be planned with the Lord in mind. What plans have you made that you have not yet prayed about? What actions have you taken that haven't been brought before the Lord? If there are any, let's take a pause, repent, and consult the Lord. I pray that 2017 is a fruitful and exciting year for all of you and that you growing closer and closer with the Lord. God Bless you.
